Carolyn D’Anna and Sharon Gordon Named Among New Jersey’s Best 50 Women in Business

J.H. Cohn’s Carolyn J. D’Anna, CPA, partner and human resources managing director, and Sharon Gordon, CPA, partner, have been named among New Jersey’s 2012 Best 50 Women in Business in NJBIZ’s awards program. They are also co-directors of J.H. Cohn’s Professional Women’s Program (“PWP”).
Carolyn oversees the entire Human Resources function for J.H. Cohn’s 1,200 employees in 15 offices. Due to her own accounting experience, having spent the first 15 years of her career in the Firm’s audit practice, Carolyn understands the issues specific to this industry, including recruiting talent in a competitive market and addressing the unique needs of women.
Sharon has developed an expertise in working with both private and publicly traded companies in the construction and real estate industries. She is a member of various construction and real estate organizations, including the Industrial/Commercial Real Estate Women, Inc. and Professional Women in Construction. She has been with J.H. Cohn for 16 years.
As co-directors, Carolyn and Sharon lead the efforts of PWP, which helps to recruit, retain, and advance professional women. The multifaceted women’s initiative addresses women’s personal and career objectives with diverse learning and development opportunities for women in the Firm, and through events for executive women in the business community.
The Best 50 Women in Business awards program honors New Jersey’s most dynamic women in business that have been making headlines in their fields. An independent panel of judges selected the top 50 winners based on their dedication to business growth, professional and personal accomplishments, community involvement, and advocacy for women.
NJBIZ and the program sponsors will honor this year’s winners during an awards ceremony on March 27, 2012 at The Palace at Somerset in Somerset, NJ. The honorees will also be highlighted in a special supplement to NJBIZ on April 2, 2012.
