J.H. Cohn Posts 26% Revenue Growth For FY08

4/29/2008

Past Year Marked by Three Key Business Combinations

ROSELAND, NJ, April 29, 2008 – J.H. Cohn LLP, the largest independent accounting, consulting, and tax firm headquartered in the Northeast, has announced firm revenues of $221,371,000 for the fiscal year 2008, marking a 26 percent year-over-year growth for the fiscal year ended January 31, 2008.

“This significant growth can be attributed to our approach to developing strategic alliances and our professionals’ dedication to providing exceptional, personalized service to clients,” said Thomas J. Marino, CPA, partner and chief executive officer of J.H. Cohn.

“Looking ahead, we will continue to remain focused on exceeding client expectations.”

Fiscal Year 2008 highlights include:

  • J.H. Cohn combined practices with Berenson LLP of New York, NY; Haggett Longobardi of Glastonbury, CT; and Marden, Harrison & Kreuter CPAs, P.C. of White Plains, NY. The resources gained through these strategic combinations strengthen the Firm’s industry position and extend its geographic reach. The business combinations have increased the Firm’s depth of knowledge in various areas, including:
    • The newly formed Apparel and Fashion Group augments J.H. Cohn’s retail industry expertise. The group serves companies in the apparel and import specialization industries (segments that Berenson served for 80 years). Services include formatting financing, business plans, audits, succession plans, and business sales.
    • With the addition of Marden, Harrison & Kreuter, A Division of J.H. Cohn—which specializes in serving the construction and real estate industries—clients benefit from a more robust Construction Industry Practice.
    • J.H. Cohn now offers clients a unique approach to the hiring process via the TriMetrix™ tool, which features innovative methods to assess both jobs to be filled and potential candidates. The tool, which was introduced to clients by Haggett Longobardi, A Division of J.H. Cohn, includes a job benchmarking function that helps employers hone the requirements of an open position as well as identify the personality type that would best work in the company's environment. For candidate evaluation, TriMetrix offers insight into over 60 variables that help reveal a candidate's true personality and fitness for the job.
  • In December 2007, Nexia International, a global network of independent accountancy, tax, and business advisors, merged with SC International, creating the ninth largest provider of audit and advisory services worldwide. As a member of Nexia, J.H. Cohn is able to provide clients with the necessary resources to help them compete more effectively in a global environment.
  • This past year was also marked by the growth of J.H. Cohn’s Capital Markets and SEC Practice, which is focused on providing advice to CEOs, CFOs, and audit committees of companies of all sizes. The practice delivers a wide array of services to public companies with the common goal of helping clients stay abreast of SEC rules and regulations and comply with increasingly complex accounting and reporting issues.
  • The Firm also continued to develop the J.H. Cohn Professional Women’s Program. The initiative recognizes the unique challenges faced by women in the workplace and addresses women’s personal and career objectives with diverse training and professional development. The program includes publications, seminars, and online resources, as well as mentoring and networking opportunities for the Firm’s professional women.
