5/19/2009
Los Angeles—May 19, 2009—Good Swartz Brown & Berns, A Division of J.H. Cohn (GSBB/J.H. Cohn), one of the top 20 accounting and consulting firms in the U.S., will sponsor the California Economic Forum, presented by CalChamber at the Milken Institute in Santa Monica on May 21.
The event will focus on global and national economic issues and their relationship to California’s economic crisis. The panel discussion will feature California Lieutenant Governor John Garamendi; State Controller John Chiang; State Inspector General Laura Chick; economist and Nobel Laureate Woody Clark; and economists Larry Harris of USC Marshall School and Charlotte Chamberlain. David Ono, ABC-Channel 7 Eyewitness News anchor, will moderate the program, which will be broadcast at a later date on KABC-TV and provided to other ABC stations around the state.
“This event provides a phenomenal opportunity for the state’s business leaders to gather with some of our greatest economic minds to discuss the issues impacting businesses anchored here, and we are pleased to be a sponsor,” said Scott Sachs, Regional Managing Partner—Greater Los Angeles, GSBB/J.H. Cohn.
GSBB/J.H. Cohn works primarily with middle-market private and publicly-traded companies in a wide variety of industries including real estate, manufacturing, distribution, retail, high-technology, and entertainment. Sachs noted that the companies the Firm works with have been impacted by the state’s economy.
“California is in a sustained period of economic upheaval, one that has superseded and been exasperated by the national and global economic issues at hand,” commented Sachs. “Many economists say that we’re at bottom, but for this state’s businesses, there is a long road to recovery ahead of them.”
