In the News: J.H. Cohn Partner James Kask Comments on 2011 CBIA Manufacturing Survey

6/23/2011

Connecticut’s manufacturing industry is feeling the effects of an aging population and the loss of experienced, skilled workers as a new workforce rife with low employability skills awaits it on the horizon, found the 2011 CBIA Connecticut Manufacturing Workforce Survey, commissioned by the Connecticut Community Colleges’ College of Technology’s Regional Center for Next Generation Manufacturing, which is funded by the National Science Foundation.

James F. Kask, CPA, a J.H. Cohn partner and member of the Firm’s Manufacturing and Distribution Industry Practice in Glastonbury, CT, provided comment on the issues uncovered in CBIA’s final published report, saying:

“Payroll remains the largest cost of doing business for American manufacturers, making it imperative that our workforces are the most capable and highly skilled in the world. The quality of our workforce is what sets us apart from the competition, and successful manufacturers will continue to enjoy the benefits of workforce reinvestment. As global labor costs rise, it only underscores the need to reinforce the talent and benefit companies will realize from working with American companies instead of going overseas.”
