J.H. Cohn Elects Four to Partnership

Roseland, NJ (February 17, 2009) – J.H. Cohn LLP, one of the top 20 accounting and business consulting firms in the United States, has announced the admission of four partners—John G. Briguglio, Neil Gerard, Chad Shandler, and Melody Thornton—to its senior leadership team. The appointment of these executives reflects their professional contributions in auditing, accounting, tax, and consulting to public and private businesses in the middle market.
John G. Briguglio, CPA, is an audit partner in J.H. Cohn’s Roseland office. He is a member of the Firm’s Manufacturing and Distribution Industry Practice and co-leads the Chemical and Process Manufacturing sub-segment of that practice. He is also a member of the Firm’s Employee Benefits Plan Practice and has extensive experience working with clients subject to ERISA and DOL reporting requirements. John is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Association for Operations Management, and the Meadowlands Regional Chamber of Commerce. John is a graduate of Montclair State University, where he earned a Bachelor Science degree in Accounting.
Neil Gerard, CPA, is a tax partner and a member of the Firm’s Manufacturing and Distribution Industry Practice. Specializing in providing tax services to clients in various industries, Neil assists in reviewing and preparing multinational tax provisions and related disclosures in accordance with FAS 109, implementation and review of FIN 48, Accounting for Uncertain Tax Provisions, and internal control testing of tax provisions. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants. Neil is a graduate of Rider University, where he earned is Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, and he is pursuing his Master of Arts in Taxation from Fairleigh Dickinson University
Chad Shandler, CPA, is a member of the Firm’s Business Investigation Services Practice, where he specializes in corporate restructuring, providing financially troubled companies, trustees, secured creditors and creditor groups essential services to achieve successful restructuring results. J.H. Cohn’s Business Investigation Services Practice provides Bankruptcy, Restructuring and Financial Recovery Services; Forensic Accounting and Litigation Support; Business Valuation Services; and Merger and Acquisition Services support. In addition, Chad has been qualified as an expert witness in Bankruptcy Court and was previously appointed by the Superior Court of New Jersey as a Special Fiscal Agent. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Society of Public Accountants, and the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors. Chad earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Washington University.
Melody Thornton, CPA, is a tax partner with expertise in tax and management consulting for public and private sector companies, including financial institutions, manufacturing, distribution, computer software, foreign companies, and high-net-worth individuals. She specializes in technical areas of individual and corporate tax planning, stock options, mergers and acquisitions, and California tax issues. She is a member of the California Bar Association, State Tax Committee, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. She is also Chair of the Tax Committee for the San Diego chapter of CSCPA. Melody earned a Bachelor Science degree in Business Administration from National University.
