J.H. Cohn Named Among Best Places to Work in New York State

J.H. Cohn LLP, one of the top 15 accounting and consulting firms in the United States, has been named among the top 15 large-sized companies to work for in New York State by the  New York State Society for Human Resource Management and Best Companies Group in their annual employee poll. J.H. Cohn has three New York State offices, one each in Manhattan, White Plains, and Jericho.

The statewide survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize, and honor the best places of employment in New York. To be considered, companies participated in a two-part process to determine the 40 Best Companies to Work for in New York. The first part evaluated each nominated company’s workplace practices, policies, philosophy, systems, and demographics, while the second part consisted of an anonymous survey of randomly-selected Firm employees and measured their overall employee experience.

“It is a tremendous honor and a proud accomplishment to be selected among the top companies to work for in the state,” stated Robert DeMeola, CPA, J.H. Cohn’s co-chief operating officer and managing partner of the Firm’s New York offices. “As a Firm, we continue to dedicate ourselves to initiatives that improve our employees and our communities, and are grateful to be recognized for this.”

J.H. Cohn, which recently celebrated its 90th anniversary, has in recent years launched numerous programs designed to improve the resources, balance, and wellness commitment it provides to its employees. These include:

  • The J.H. Cohn Professional Women’s Program, a multifaceted internal initiative that addresses women’s personal and career objectives with diverse learning and development opportunities.

  • The recently expanded employee intranet, which offers in-depth industry overview pages, document sharing, and “The Faces of J.H. Cohn,” an online photo directory designed to acquaint the Firm’s employees with one another.

  • An ongoing commitment to employee development through our formal mentoring program, which enables professional staff to build relationships (and their careers) with more senior partners and staff, and the Partner Candidate Development Academy, which offers managerial and career development training to high-potential, manager-level employees.

  • An Employee Assistance Program that offers confidential, around-the-clock counsel, and a health and wellness program that encourages physical and mental wellness and preventative care; and

  • A commitment to the communities in which the Firm’s employees live and work, not only through the countless hours dedicated to the J.H. Cohn Foundation and Cohn for Kids (which has resulted approximately $1 million to community organizations such as Make-A-Wish, the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation, and the Special Operations Warriors Foundation), but by individual commitments to various community boards and fundraisers.

J.H .Cohn will be formally recognized with this honor at the Best Companies to Work for in New York awards dinner on April 21 at the Albany Marriott.
