7/29/2008

Roseland, NJ – July 29, 2008 – J.H. Cohn LLP, one of the largest independent accounting and consulting firms in the Northeast, raised more than $130,000 at its seventh annual employee Bowl-A-Thon benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey, one of the Firm’s Cohn for KidsSM

affiliated charities. Over the past seven years, J.H. Cohn has raised approximately $730,000 for Make-A-Wish.

"As the top corporate donor in New Jersey, J.H. Cohn continues to have a major impact on our organization. Thanks to their efforts over the past seven years, more than 100 New Jersey children with life threatening illnesses have had their wishes granted," said Thomas P. Weatherall, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey. "Each year, they raise the bar and serve as an inspiration to other New Jersey businesses that support Make-A-Wish."

Employees from J.H. Cohn’s New Jersey offices in Roseland, Edison, Lawrenceville, and Eatontown filled all 32 lanes at the Hanover Bowling Lanes in East Hanover, NJ.Each bowler had raised donations and sponsorships from friends, family, and clients.Bowlers and spectators also participated in more than 100 prize raffles throughout the event.

For the second consecutive year, the event featured "PBA vs. CPA," in which Doug Kent, a professional bowler, bowled against Scott Miller, a J.H. Cohn audit partner. A competition to guess the winning score was another way to raise funds for the worthwhile cause.

"The Bowl-A-Thon has become a J.H. Cohn tradition," said Michael L. Cohen, Office Managing Partner of J.H. Cohn’s Roseland office and director of the J.H. Cohn Foundation. "Everyone, partners, staff, and their families, pull together to support this very special organization."

Michael is also a Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey board member. In fact, Make-A-Wish has asked him to share information on J.H. Cohn’s efforts with other companies that are looking for ways to engage their employees in supporting the Foundation.

Earlier this summer, the J.H. Cohn Foundation donated $200,000 to The Special Operations Warrior Foundation and the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation, two of the Firm’s Cohn for KidsSM affiliated charities.

In 2007, J.H. Cohn was named the Corporate Citizen of the Year by NJBIZ magazine. The award honors one New Jersey leader that exemplifies the tenet of "doing well by doing good" and shows a sustained commitment to employees and the community.
