Melody Thornton Named Among San Diego’s Women Who Mean Business

Melody Thornton, CPA, a partner in the San Diego office of J.H. Cohn LLP, one of the top 15 accounting and consulting firms in the United States, has been honored at the San Diego Business Journal’s 16th Annual Women Who Mean Business Awards.
The October 27th event recognized dynamic women business leaders and role models, selected for their achievements and contributions to San Diego. Meg Whitman, California gubernatorial candidate and the former president and CEO of eBay, was the event’s keynote speaker.
Melody is a tax partner with 20 years of experience in tax and management consulting for public and private sector companies for various industries, including technology, light manufacturing, and distribution. She specializes in technical areas of corporate tax planning, equity-based compensation, and mergers and acquisitions. She also has extensive experience in taxation for not-for-profit organizations and in California tax issues. She is a member of the Firm’s Capital Markets and SEC Practice and State and Local Tax Group.
Melody currently serves as vice president for the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA), San Diego Chapter and CalCPA State Council. She previously served on the state level Taxation Committee of CalCPA and the CalCPA State Board of Directors. She also serves on the Membership Committee for San Diego Association for Corporate Growth.
Melody graduated from the National University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.
